For the past few months or years? I’ve been buying things which I don’t really need and sometimes I don’t actually use at all, you know me! I’ve been buying make ups, clothes, bags and whatever I could buy whenever I go to the shops. I won’t leave the shops without getting something.
Moving on.. Last month, I bought something that I know I’ll be able to use and my money would be worth it. No, wait! I actually don’t know if it would be worth it until I tried using it.
I’ve been thinking of buying an ipad mini or kindle since last year. But I’m never a fan of ebooks so I’m having second thoughts, but I realised that I’ll be bum soon so I need to save more money and at least I should have something to do so I won’t get bored. I didn’t get the ipad for one reason, I might get distracted with the other apps if my main purpose of buying is for the ebooks.
So I got the Kindle Paperwhite, I so love it! Best thing I’ve ever bought since my iphone4s. Can’t go a day without using it. I have read 6 books since I got it. It’s pretty much easy to use and it’s really easy to find ebooks on the internet and just download it, it has a build in wifi so not a problem at all plus it has a built in backlight so I can also read before going to bed, yay!

Yay or Nay: Why We Broke Up
This book is pretty much easy to read. I guess I don’t really need to explain what the book was all about. Duh. Title pa lang? But yeah it’s about break up and the story is really predictable, well for me. I didn’t really like the book that much. I don’t really know why I bothered to finished this. Maybe because I’m just looking forward and curious of the cute images every chapter.
I don’t really think there’s something unique with this book. I guess if I’m going through a break up I would appreciate this book more. All I can say is.. Ed is stupid. And the reason why they broke up is a common reason why every couples do break up.
I would recommend this for younger people, maybe teens?
Why We Broke Up: 3 out of 5 and it’s a Nay!
Yay or Nay: The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time
Honestly I can’t remember what this book was all about. (Eto na naman si Ravonni, ang labo na naman) I read this book last September, I totally forgot to blog about it.
One day, I went to the bookshop and wanting a easy read book, I went to the Children’s section and immediately saw this and then grabbed it. I’ve been seeing this book everywhere, all over the internet, so why not try.
The book is all about this kid, Christopher. a fifteen-year-old boy with an autistic spectrum condition, lives with his father; he explains that his mother, Judy, died two years ago. He discovers the dead body of Wellington, the neighbour’s dog, speared by a garden fork and investigated the dog’s death.
It’s a good book for a children slash feeling kid like me. I liked how it was constructed and detailed, the character is really an example of an intelligent boy. The twist of the story is really good, although I didn’t like some of the math parts. (Di ko gets eh! Bakit ba!)
The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time: 3.8 out of 5 (YAY)
Yay or Nay: The Fault in Our Stars/Will Grayson, Will Grayson
After I finished reading the Fifty Shades Trilogy, I immediately read two of John Green’s book.
The Fault in Our Stars and Will Grayson, Will Grayson.
I first read Will Grayson, Will Grayson. The story is about two Will Graysons (Yes, exactly the same name) crossed path. As my number 1 rule for doing reviews, I won’t spoil but to give just what I think about the book and so I won’t give further much info.
I find the book somewhat like a bit of The Perks of Being a Wallflower, but this book is nothing compared to The Perks. The book was a bit confusing because of course they have two characters with different story. The ending was really not good or maybe I’m just expecting too much from the book, and maybe the idea of having two authors and characters made me excited but yeah the story is a bit common. What I liked about the book is how they managed to separate the story of Will Grayson 1 to Will Grayson 2 and also how they connected it. Just go figure!
I’m a type of reader who judge the book by its ending. What I mean is, whether its a happy ending or a sad ending but if its not well written, I won’t consider it as a good book. And I like books which could give a good message and can apply in life. (Who are you kidding Ravonni, of course everyone does) Okay, lets move on.. The book is a bit sad, but the story is good and the message is far more good, I even like it’s ending, I didn’t really expected that. But honestly the main story a bit.. if you are a koreandrama addict, you’ll find this predictable and common. But its good!
Will Grayson, Will Grayson: 2.8 out of 5 and it’s a Nay!
The Fault in Our Stars: 3.5 out of 5 and it’s a Yay!
Visited my favorite bookshop here in Sydney last sunday with my youngest sister. (Dymocks is actually a big bookshop, it has 3 floors) I don’t want to go that day but my mom insisted because she wants me to babysit my sister, the real purpose of going there is because my sister wants to get the book entitled “Alan Wake”.
One of my favorite section in the bookshop is The Teen Fiction. I love reading Teen Fictions because I feel like I’m still a teen and young at heart chos!
The awesome me surrounded by books.
I don’t get it? There are still new books coming out that are somewhat like the Fifty Shades Trilogy. Why? Di maka move on lang?
My second favorite section, The Gifts.
I’m a very thoughtful person that’s why I love giving gifts. Actually this is where I got the “Keep Calm And Sudoku On” present for my sister.
And I absolutely love playing board games!
My most favorite is Scrabble, I want to get one of the mugs there but too bad there is no R.
I love the set up of the children’s section.
I got something from the Biographies section that day which is the Running with Scissors by Augusten Burroughs.
For the music lovers.
The Science/Fantasy Fiction. I can’t remember if I have ever read a book or ever got a book from this section. Hmm maybe soon I should try to read one.
A stack of George RR Martin’s books.
Some Star Wars stuffs.
I do remember that I saw the movie when I was a kid and I really can’t remember the characters but my sister was telling me to take a photo of the ugly Chewbacca. And I was like “who the hell is that?”
I didn’t able to take photos of the whole bookshop because I was busy looking for the books that I want to read and I’m confused of which one to buy first.
I didn’t able to take photos of the Fiction, Non Fiction, Motivation, Travel, Stationery and etc. The place is too big for me to go in each section. Next time! May part 2, promise!
I bought three books that day.. Alan Wake for my sister, Running with Scissors and The Happiness Project for me. (Thanks minhobabe for recommending The Happiness Project!)
Had fun bookshopping with my sister!!
Yay or Nay: Fifty Shades Trilogy
A new portion of my blog.. The “Yay or Nay” I can’t think of a good title, I’m thinking of “RAView”, “Rav Reads” or simply “Book Review” but nah, doesn’t sound good for me. This new “Yay and Nay” would be a portion where I’ll do my reviews for books, make ups, clothes, products and etc. (All in one for short)
Anyway, so let’s jump to my review for the Fifty Shades Trilogy which I read for like a month.
Of course, the one and only reason why I read this book is because of curiosity. I didn’t know that I’d get hooked with the book. Honestly, at first I thought I won’t like this book, my sister’s boyfriend William which is a bookworm like me said that it’s a Twilight fan fiction, so the moment I started it I keep on comparing if it’s the same with Twilight, I guess at some point it is, because why does Christian Grey fell in love with Anastasia Steele and why not with anyone else like Edward Cullen to Bella Swan. Yes, I read Twilight, only the first book and after that I didn’t bother to read because they all made it into a movie anyway. But for me, Bella Swan is different from Anastasia and Christian Grey is far more better than Edward Cullen. (I guess?)
I honestly like Christian Grey’s character, I wish I could have a handsome, rich and overprotective boyfriend like him, I don’t have to worry about anything if he’ll be my boyfriend while with Anastasia Steele I don’t really have anything against her, she’s smart and she’s not the type of woman who’ll just say yes and will agree with whatever the boyfriend will ask, she still makes her own decisions.
The only thing that I don’t like is.. it’s so so so erotic! (Well its erotic romance book, what do you expect Ravonni?) plus I really can’t imagine teens are reading this sort of book, I’m 20 and I still think it’s not appropriate for my age. While reading the erotic parts, I feel like I’m watching a Hostel/Saw type of movie, in Hostel every after scene there is the killing while in Fifty Shades every after 3-4 pages there’s “the act” again. So for me, it’s really not for teenagers. Parental Guidance is recommended!
My favorite among the three would be Fifty Shades Darker, I think the real story is in this book. The two other books are okay, I really like the book, how the story and the details were constructed, how the characters were described and how detailed “the acts” they made in the books.
Fifty Shades of Grey: 3 out of 5
Fifty Shades Darker: 4 out of 5
Fifty Shades Freed: 3.5 out of 5
So for me it’s a YAY!
New Stuff (Books and Journal)
Bought two new books last Monday.
Fifty Shades of Grey and A Million Little Pieces. I’ve been reading A Million Pieces via iBooks and I hate it! I like books, I think books are way too better!
But I’m thinking of buying a Kindle. But no! #Labo
I bought this new journal, its called “Dear Paul Journal”. I’ve been writing journals ever since, the usual Dear Diary thing. But this year I want it to be different and I’m dedicating my 2012 entries for Paul. Maybe you are wondering why I just bought this journal now it’s because the first few months of my 2012 is crazy, frustrating, sad and so I didn’t write many entries with the real journal that I bought for 2012.
And Benefit booklet which I got for free. I don’t use much make up but its free so why not! :)
Bought new books the other day at Fullybooked, I find books here in the Phils. cheaper than the ones in Sydney. (Well, everything in Sydney is expensive compare here)
Is the Ligo na u, Lapit na me book a indie film? Just curious that’s why I bought it. While the perks of being a wallflower, I heard that its a good book and everyone’s buying it so I wanna read it too.
I just started reading the Ligo na u, Lapit na me! I want to finish it asap and wanna buy Bob Ong’s new book.
Thanks Ymmandah for the bookmark! :) Any good books you can suggest? So I can buy while I’m still here? Thanks!
